This past weekend Mrs. MattDoc participated in the Color Vibe 5k race. Naturally I had my camera with me. Here, participants are blasted with a color cannon right as they start the race.

Jeff Skinner of the Carolina Hurricanes was just announce as the Triangle’s Sports Person of the Year by the Greater Raleigh Sports Council. This is great news and well-deserved. Here's a photo I took of Skinner at the 2011 NHL All-Star Game in Raleigh, NC.

As you may have seen by now, LPGA golfer Natalie Gulbis is featured in this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue sporting nothing but body paint. I don't have any photos that are nearly that cool, but I do have a few I got at the 2007 US Women's Open.

Here is a quick-and-dirty timelapse I did at softball practice last night. I really just did this to get used to the process of setting up the camera equipment as well as how to work with the software to put it all together.

I had my old EOS 20D attached to the fence in the dugout with a gorillapod. I was using a rented Tokina 10-17mm lens. You can see some of the fence, but that was hard to avoid in order to keep the gear safe behind it.

More to come in the coming weeks!

The view back to the Melbourne Cricket Ground while waiting for the train at Richmond station after the Twenty20 cricket match between Australia and Pakistan. I left the match a little early. 10 minutes after this photo was taken, the game was over and the train station was crowded with people.

It had been a while since I shot sports so I went out this morning to check out some cricket. The backgrounds were pretty bad, but that's to be expected at a small local oval.
