I spotted this one while taking a walk around the office complex. She sets up camp in this same spot every day.

This is an Argiope aurantia or Black & Yellow Garden Spider.

They are pretty fascinating. I recommend clicking through and reading about them. The craziest part..."After mating, the male dies, and is sometimes then eaten by the female." Ouch.

Air Force One over NC - Canon EOS 7D, 18-135mm IS @87mm, 1/1250 @ f5.6, ISO 100

The President was in Raleigh, NC today to talk about his new jobs bill. My office is right near RDU Airport so I had a great view of Air Force One as it took off to head back to DC.

It has been WAY too long since I posted here. Sorry about that. But this morning I was lucky enough to spot this hawk at the edge of the woods in our back yard. We see a couple of them in the trees pretty often, just never this close.
